Today sees the first day of me working from home. At least me waiting in for deliveries, answering e-mails and reading up on portfolio careers.

The clock in the room I’m in ticks quietly, and the tea next to me gently steams and smells nicely of vanilla. My head is slightly fuzzy from the red wine last night, although this is countered by the validation I received last night. The ideas I suggested to the group were vert well received. and that should I put them into practice, they will be well attended. It’s good to know I’m not barking up the wrong tree.

Now all I need to know is that my barking in the world of generating paid income will work also. I’ve got meetings set up with consultants and friends who have worked in the self-employed arena before. My plan being to hoover the nitty gritty up from them. The real work I need to do is four fold:

Identify saleable skills and solutions that I can offer
Find clients for those skills and solutions
Generate a sensible price list
Get a pipeline of work and a cash flow forecast

Sounds simple on paper, however I’m somewhat nervous about the amount of work involved. Thankfully I’ve a little lump of money which buys me about 5 months to get this off the ground, else it’s looking for another paid position/go onto another plan entirely (what, you thought I’d forgotten my coffee shop lunacy? ;) ).

I’m not asking for luck, instead I’m looking for perseverance, persistence and the ability to generate the necessary perspiration to make this work.

Oh, and clients would be good *flutters eyelashes in your direction* ;) .
