Gosh what a busy one it’s been. I have been saving my energy to make sure I didn’t miss out on the two big events that I had planned.

Firstly there was Blogcamp UK. You can’t have failed to notice the button on my blog advertising the event. Blog camp proved amazingly useful, full of fabulous talks and insights into expanding your readership, using photographs, video and audio in your blog and of course lots and lots of cake! I was a tad anti-social as I am still feeling somewhat like a damp dish cloth after recent events so I didn’t make any new contacts. What I did learn was lots of information on blogging, social networks and all manner of wonderful things. I must admit I have inspired to try new things, so watch this space!

The second event was Manchester Teawitter. It’s been an age since we ran a teawitter, Beks and I felt it was high time to run one. We had 35 people sign up via the eventbrite page, and 17 of those checked in. A little surprising, although we had at least 20 people who hadn’t signed up via eventbrite turn up anyway!

Teawitter saw Beks and Mrs.Misadventurer baking like crazy. The two of them whipped up a storm and in no particular order we had:

  • Cherry chocolate fruit cake
  • Chocolate gingerbread
  • Mozzarella, pesto and basil whirls
  • Bacon brownies!
  • Eccles cakes
  • The brand new Manchester biscuit!
  • Chelsea buns
  • Banana and walnut loaf
  • Peanut butter cookies
  • Rasberry bakewell cake
  • Many many more!

In case you’d like to feast your eyes on the tasty treats, have a quick peak at the gallery.

We also paid homage to our teawitter for science tea parties with Maxine demonstrating her Stirling Engine

Much fun was had, tea drunk and merriment…merried. To say I simply cannot face cake is an understatement, I fear I shall not be able to look a slice in the eye for at least 24 hours!

As is traditional post teawitter, we had a tweet mandarin with a visit to Helen Ng and Lisa Tse at Sweet Mandarin, the two being fresh from Dragon’s Den and successfully winning funding for their range of dipping sauces. After a catch up and a delicious meal, I wended my way home, put fingers to keyboard before attempting to have an early night.

It’s been a fantastic and busy weekend, and next weekend sees me attending the WordPress Intermediate course at the omniversity. Somehow I think I’ve lost track of what the idea of a quiet weekend is meant to be!

Night night all, and I hope you’ve had as fun packed a weekend as I have!
