So I went home.

You have no idea how much that actually means, and how much I’m bending the truth here. As an unreliable narrator, you’re just going to have to go with me until the final twist and the big reveal.

(I bet you can’t wait, I know I’m looking forward to finding out who did it)

Home is a fib, there’s nothing to see or do in my home town if I’m honest barring the friends who still live there and the purpose of my trip was to have some serious time to myself. You see, there’s been a state change. Nothing I’m going to share with you here, you’re just going to have to believe me when I say quantum physics was writ large, and orbits have shifted. Not enough for anything to start lasing thank goodness, but enough such that it took a little bit for stability to be reasserted.

Heading North had that effect on me. I needed to get away from people, away from the Internet and get away and back to territory that makes sense. Durham is a beautiful city, and one I do recommend if you need to get away from it all. Just large enough to keep you occupied, just small enough not to overcrowd, and with the student body on vacation, perfect.

I went, I walked, I read. I kept in contact with those I am closest too, and responded to everyone else as and when. I was being a hermit, not ignorant.

I meditated a lot, and also really put into practice the mindfulness I’ve been cultivating the last few months as part of the Buddhist meditative practice I’ve learned. And you know what? It’s done me a lot of good. My social media fast has demonstrated conclusively that I do not need to keep in contact with the world. My reading and mindfulness also allowed me to relearn kindness towards myself. My choice of reading enlightened me, but of that I shall write another time. ;)

I’m back, I’ve conversations to have and projects to work on. I’ve a world to change and little time to be getting on with it. I plan to assert my status as a magnificent bastard in a number of ways.

Do you need me? That’s for you to know.
Do you want me? That’s for you to tell me.

Just don’t take too long thinking or acting on both. ;)

I’m here, as boisterous and larger than life as always, and you know what? Maybe it’s not so bad being awesome after all. ;)
