Paying it forward

Or: Free car.

OK, first the offer. I have an M reg Vauxhall Calibra free to a good home. You need to insure it and pick it up from me in Manchester, however it’s free, gratis and for nothing.

Now the small print. If you decide to take me up on this offer then there is a karmic caveat. You may NOT sell her. You may pass her along to someone else for free, or (god forbid) scrap her, but you may NOT make money from having had her in your possession. Anything else you decide to do is up to you with that one caveat in mind.

Finally the explanation. When The Wife and I stopped working, we lost the car since it belonged to The Wife’s ex-employer. We were in deep schtuck, and thanks to the action of a very kind friend, we were given a car for nothing barring the cost of repairs. Having now gotten back on our feet, we’ve been able to buy another car and we’re not quite in the position of being a two car family. Serenity is good, but we had different needs than what she was able to provide. So, having had such a fantastic act of kindness to get us back on our feet now we’re paying it forward. You may mock and call it mawkish sentimentality, I call it greasing the karmic wheel. Serenity is lovely and will make a good runaround for one of you out there and so she’s free to someone with a good need.

This is not a trick offer, this is not a joke or publicity stunt, this is a genuine desire to pay a most amazing favour forward.

EDIT: Well, we have had a number of people come forward and say that having a car would be of enormous use. So the polling for taking her off our hands for now is closed. A random number generator has been used and fate has chosen who shall take serenity. Thanks for getting in touch, and I do wish I could have helped each and every one of you out.
